First Verona Letter

The first letter received and stamped cancelled in the Verona Post Office was mailed July 9, 1880 bearing a three cent stamp and received in Verona on July 13, 1880.It was addressed to Mrs. Arch H. Rowland, Verona, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. and mailed by a friend, Louise B. Langlands, Mount Clemens, Macomb County, Michigan. As of 1971, the letter is in the possession of Mrs. Rowland's granddaughter, Helen Dunkle and has been noted as the first letter received in the Verona Post Office.
